French Toast Sunday is made up of a collection of fantastic podcasters and writers from all across the globe. We are proud of the FTS community and would love for our readers to take a moment to get to know us a little better. Every month, we will highlight a new contributor with a brief questionnaire that will hopefully shine some light into the life of an FTSer. This month, we look at Marc’s favorite subject, Marc!

Q&A

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’m definitely a Night Owl. Back before I had a conventional 9 to 5 me going to bed after 3am was pretty normal. Plus, naps during the day are amazing; I don’t know why children hate them so much.

Are you a planner? Or are you spontaneous?
I can be both, it really depends on the situation, but one thing I absolutely hate is indecision. I don’t care if we go left or right, but let’s not spend a half an hour talking about it. I think I’m just horribly impatient.

What motivates you?
What motivates me the most is someone telling me I can’t do something. The word “no” lights a special kind of fire in me that just pushes to that next level. That, and money, I really like money.

What’s your favorite:
food? Anything my Mom makes. Really, it’s that good, most of FTS can vouch for this.
color? I am a fan of all pastels. I have a closet full of brightly colored Polo’s.
holiday? My Birthday, which happens to be Canada Day (July 1st), so I feel slightly less narcissistic about my answer.

It’s 8:00pm on a Friday night, what are you doing?
See if you asked this question to 25 year old Marc I probably would have been at work waiting for customers to leave so I can grab my clothes out the car and change before a night of drinking and overall debauchery. Nowadays, I’m probably exhausted from a week of work, I grab my favorite Talenti (Caramel Cookie Crunch if you’re wondering) and sit on the couch for a Netflix and chill session minus the sexual connotation (btw, why is that a thing now?).

What is something odd that fascinates you?
The passage of time. I don’t know if that counts as being particularly odd because I feel most people have a preoccupation with time, but it really fascinates me how we perceive time. For instance, I’m 30 years old, but if you ask me how old I am and I’m not thinking about it I would answer 24. I know I’m 30, but I don’t feel like I’m 30, and this is not to say that 30 is old. The relationship between how much time we feel has passed versus how much time has actually passed is very interesting to me.

When and Why did you start blogging?
Because Lindsay asked me to. But seriously, I love movies and I love communicating with people, so to combine those two things is really awesome and I’m super thankful for the opportunity.

What is your favorite genre of film? Least favorite?
I love horror; it’s a love that causes me great pain because I haven’t seen any good horror in such a long time. As far as least favorite, I think I give all movies a fair chance, but if I had to give one I would say Westerns, haven’t found one that grabbed me yet (excluding Django Unchained).

Is there a particular actor who you would see in a movie regardless of what the film is?
I am a big fan of Tom Hardy, I saw him in Rock’n’Rolla (Guy Ritchie, you owe me some sequels) and I was hooked. Hardy is one of the most versatile actors of our generation.

Do you refuse to watch any movie from a certain actor or director because of their behavior in their personal life?
Not at all.

Who is your favorite director?
I love Baz Luhrmann movies (except Australia), his of style and grandeur is something I would want to emulate if I ever made a movie, it’s eye candy.

Best decade for film?
I’m torn on this. I want to say the 70s because of the wide variety of films that were made that would never get made today and the caliber of the actors, but my heart says the 80’s. I just grew up on all those great movies and they hold such a bigger place in my heart.

Any future blogging goals?
To find the time to do it more often. Some days while brushing my teeth (all my best idea come to me while I’m brushing my teeth) I’ll have this killer idea for a post then I realize that I have to set aside time to actually write it and then it becomes less attractive. Time management is a skill that I desperately need.
