Welcome back movie lovers! I’m back again for another look at the home video releases for the week for all you faithful FTS readers. This week we have a couple exciting releases to talk about so lets just get started.

Furious 7

What’s it about?
“Continuing the global exploits in the unstoppable franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Nate’s Two Cents?
For most people, including the cast of the movie, Furious 7 ended up becoming more than just a movie. After the tragic event that took place during the shooting of the film, the movie became a tribute to the late Paul Walker. James Wan took on the task and gave audiences a refreshing take on the franchise, coming from a strictly horror resume up to this point. The film is an adrenaline-fueled ride through and through, and gives Walker a tear-jerking farewell at the conclusion of the film. If you’re a fan of the franchise or Walker in general, then Furious 7 is a must see.

The Jinx

Who’s in it?
Robert Durst, Andrew Jarecki

What’s it about?
“This groundbreaking new series exposes long-buried information discovered during their seven-year investigation of a series of unsolved crimes, and the man suspected of being at its center — Robert Durst, scion of New York’s billionaire Durst family.” – HBO

Nate’s Two Cents?
This 6-episode documentary that aims to reveal new details on the man at the center of a string of murders will leave you with goosebumps. The man in question, Robert Durst, agrees to sit down with the director and crew and talk about details of the events that took place several years prior. The more you watch, the quicker you realize that this guy, his mannerisms and story are mind boggling. If you’re looking to catch up on the series of events that inspired this doc, then check out All Good Things, also directed by Andrew Jarecki years prior.

Cinderella

Love & Mercy

Popeye

Who’s in it?
Robin Williams, Shelley Duvall, Ray Walston, Paul L. Smith

What’s this thing about?
“This film is an affectionate and carefully detailed homage to the long-lived comic-strip and cartoon character. The story is set in Sweetville and chronicles the romantic rivalry between Popeye and Bluto over the love of Olive Oyl.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Nate’s Two Cents?
I grew up watching this movie over the years when I would visit my grandparents.. I remember when my grandfather popped the old VHS into the VCR and I watched it for the first time. The movie is a bit old, but a fun time and an interesting performance by the late Robin Williams. Any fan of the classic Popeye strip or cartoons should give this one a watch.
