In an attempt to stick to our movie-related New Years resolutions, Jess and I plan to keep a weekly record of our progress towards our goal. See if we hit our goal this week and what movies we watched. You can also check out our initial resolutions post here.

My big goal this year is to watch three types of movies a week:

  • 1 New Movie (anything that has come out in the last 3-4 months)
  • 1 Movie From My Netflix Queue (it has to be from the list I cemented in stone at the beginning of 2014 to count)
  • 1 Movie I’ve Been Meaning to Rewatch

Lets take a look at what was watched this past week.

New Movies:

  • Furious 7 – See what I thought about it in my review. Short version: I was a fan.
  • Focus – This was a really fun little watch. Nothing that’s going to change the game, but had a lot of fun twists and turns that make it truly enjoyable. Margot Robbie is a goddess.

Re-watched:

  • No Country For Old Men – Definitely confirmed that this is not only my favorite Coen Brothers movie, but one of my favorite movies in general. I wrote all about how much I love it in my most recent Best Picture Series post.
  • The Fast and the Furious – After seeing all the crazy in Furious 7, I had a hard time remembering where this all started. After revisiting it for the first time in probably 12-13 years, I’ll say it’s not a great film and hasn’t exactly aged well, but it definitely has its merits. It was nice to look back and see the simpler version of this series that was far more focused on the actual cars.

Off the Queue:

  • Fargo – Finally knocked this one off my list. It’s one of those movies I feel like I should have seen a really long time ago. It’s a very fun and funny movie, and I can easily see how it could translate into a television show. I was planning on checking it out anyways, but now I’m excited.

New Movies:

  • ABCs of Death 2 – A much more enjoyable film overall compared to the first installment. It started off with a fun little short and I enjoyed quite a few sprinkled throughout. I found myself wishing a lot of the segments were longer.

Re-watched:

  • Pretty in Pink – Never noticed Gina Gershon is in this! You know, it really sucks to be Ducky by the way. What a bummer situation. I think I just always feel so close to him after that scene where he lip syncs Otis in the record store. That’s something I would have done in high school. Also, James Spader is so top of his sleazy rich guy game in this, it’s marvelous.

Off the Queue:

  • I missed this somehow so I will have to double up next week!
