    CORRECTION: It’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin FREEMAN that star in the BBC adaptation of Sherlock and NOT Martin Sheen like I incorrectly stated. I don’t know WHAT I was thinking, but I was wrong.

    In terms of the comic books sales, I’m not that surprised at all. I think it boils down to the simple fact that The Avengers actually have superpowers. Hence, the film really screams “comic book”! The Dark Knight trilogy is much more philosophical and more of a character study. If I’m gonna read a comic book, I prefer to see mutants doing awesome shit. It’s the main reason I was more fascinated by the Marvel stuff when I used to collect comics (X-Men, Fantastic Four etc).

      That’s such a good point. I also “prefer to see mutants doing awesome shit” so I can see how that concept directly relates to comic sales.

    Skyfall trailer looks like it is going back to old Bond. Gotta watch that one trailer then. I’ve always thought of Bond as being the same man everytime. His plastic surgery might have gotten a little radical and he might not age but I always think of it as the same man, and still do even after I read Cracked’s theory a while ago.

    The 9 hour marathon was great, but I want to watch Rises a second time to see it stand alone. I agree that Bane’s voice could be incomprehensible at times but was pretty cool.

    As much as the trilogy might make you want to go and read the comic, I don’t think you would ever know where to start. I mean, the trilogy is clearly not a page for page adaptation, so you can’t just go and read that story. You’d have to read a few decades of comics to piece it all together I would think.

    Lindsay is definitely right that the ending would have been much better without the visual cue from the earlier scene.

      > I wasn’t nearly as excited for Skyfall before the trailer. It just looks damn cool. All these Bond theories are very interesting to me and it’s even more intriguing to me that there are so many varied ideas on it.

That would be a huge problem and I could maybe see people gravitating towards a few issues they have heard inspired the Nolan movies but even for someone like me I would have no clue what to pick up without doing some research.

      > Yes! I stand by that and the claim that Nolan sometimes over explains things for the audience. I think he does it more as a safety net because his films have a lot to take in but that scene in particular stuck out as something where showing less would have equaled more.
