Remember: Coffee Break is full of odds and ends I’d like to discuss including films I’m watching, links I like, stuff I’m into and oh yeah, coffee!
I find myself repeating the running theme of Silver Linings Playbook: I just need a strategy.
I knew this summer was going to be busy. It appears however, that besides telling myself that I would have a busy summer, I did nothing to actually prepare for it. Coming off a three month travel-rinse-repeat grind, I’m finding myself more overwhelmed than my normal day to day. The amount of stuff sitting on my massive to do list is looming and once again, I stress constantly about finding a balance to it all.
Is it even possible to find a balance? I really don’t know if I have answer to that. Here is my current rut: I love blogging. I love everything that goes along with it. Writing, networking, meeting other bloggers, talking about film, screenings, traveling, all of that. In order to feed my passion, I need to acquire currency. I have a day job that I don’t totally hate but find myself loathing because it takes up so much time. In turn, I never spend as much time as I would like doing what I love and I feel like I can’t properly grow it into something financially successful because I don’t have enough time to work on expanding it when I’m constantly playing catch-up. This time issue stems into every other aspect of my life too. I like to travel and meet people and go to events but I feel guilty afterwards because other parts of my blogging suffers. I’m also super unhealthy and constantly stress that I don’t do enough to treat my body right and in 5 years I’m going to really regret not separating a chunk of time out to exercise/eat right. And I really fucking like donuts, you know?
What I’m saying is that I’m constantly at odds with competing professional goals & life pleasures. I wanted to write a whole post on this topic because writing is supposed to be cathartic or something like that but I don’t have enough time! And you know what’s the worst? Just thinking about how to manage my time better I know that logically I can’t add anything else to my routine without letting something else go. Hopefully, once the site’s redesign is complete I can free up a small chunk of time? I don’t know, that’s just what I’ve been telling myself.
I guess I just have to stop bitching, reorganize, prioritize and get back at it.
Side Note: if you saw that t-shirt above and said to yourself “Damn I want that shirt! Lindsay is such a trendsetter in the fashion world!” well you can have it too, just click here.
I’m going to cut this coffee Break short with only a photo update because I have such a back up happening here. This is what’s been happening since July.
FTS recently had the pleasure of hosting a fellow blogger in Baltimore. Shane from Film Actually spent a weekend in FTS’ hometown while we did our best to play tour guide. Take a look at some photos we snapped from the weekend (a lot of the pics are courtesy of Shane’s Instagram so check that out too!)
For the first night of Shane’s visit the group headed to Fell’s Point. First up: BOP (Brick Oven Pizza) for some delicious slices.
Then began a long night of drinks. Here we are at one of our favorite spots: Max’s Taphouse. I don’t know what Will is describing there…
The Wharf Rat! As seen in Veep and House of Cards! I actually really like this bar. It always feels like that neighborhood bar from right around the corner where the atmosphere is chill and the drinks are priced well and people just leave you the fuck alone. I could stay in a corner all night there.
Time for $1 Jello shots at Lil’ Phils. Things are getting real.
Our last drinks of the night turned into our first cups of Joe in the morning after a dance session or two.
We sat down for breakfast at the Paper Moon diner.
It is a strange place to say the least.
After spending sometime at a museum, we visited the major tourist areas in Baltimore including Federal Hill overlooking the Harbor.
Rounding out the weekend, we treated Shane to some Maryland crabs.
Shane left us with a few delicious parting gifts that I can’t wait to try (and yes, that’s coffee :-D) I just want to say thanks again to Shane for making the journey out to Baltimore and spending some time with us. It was a blast!
& AND A MUG SHOT
