Maybe you’re looking to save a few bucks or the current theater choices just aren’t cutting it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes it’s just as nice to sit at home and watch a good flick. Take a look at this week’s picks for some At-Home Alternatives to the weekly cinema options.
Instead of Sinister: Insidious
Sinister features Ethan Hawke as a family man who moves into a new house and finds not only has the former families that lived there met a unnatural end, but their home videos are still in the attic and they hold an unspeakable evil. I should really write movie blurbs. But if you can’t make it out the house to watch a movie that relies on conventional scares, stay home and watch the scariest movie I’ve seen in years, Insidious. Y’all let me tell you, I’m a grown ass 27 year old man, and I’ve only seen Insidious once because I refuse to watch it without Jesus and a night light, it’s that scary.
Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
I must admit, I not a huge Wes Anderson fan. I don’t hate his work by any means , all I’m saying is that I’m pretty indifferent to it. Contrary to my stance, Lindsay seems to really enjoy this one (you can read her review here) so I guess it’s tolerable 🙂
Superstar (1999)
Come on, who doesn’t love Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher? I saw this in the movies ages ago and I remember laughing hysterically, I’m chuckling now just thinking about it.
Superstar Netflix Synopsis: Reprising her popular “Saturday Night Live” role as Irish-Catholic schoolgirl and proto-nerd Mary Katherine Gallagher, Molly Shannon stars as the ugly duckling who resolves to attain her twin dreams of fame and kissing the class stud.
What do you plan on watching this week, at home or otherwise? What do you think of my choices?
