It’s the in between time where summer is ending and fall is right around the bend. Summer box office is at a close but the rest of 2012 has a lot of great films on it’s roster. Before we get there, I put together some of last month’s highlights including box office stats, my favorite posts and new blogs I’m into.
STATS:
- The Bourne Legacy proved a successful addition to the franchise with positive box office numbers.
- Marvel’s Avengers 2 gets a release date: May 1st, 2015.
- Two greats were lost on the same day: Director Tony Scott and Comedian Phyllis Diller both died August 20th.
WHAT TO READ:
- Best For Film has a funny list up putting together imaginary “versus” films they’s like to see. I think they’re on to something with ‘Matador vs Manta Ray.’
- Sight on Sound has a fun post on how to make a perfect movie, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
- Public Transportation Snob is churning out great marathons, this time focusing on international gangster films.
- Eat Sleep Live Film‘s Paul Risker picks apart three summer films explaining why Pixar, Bourne and The Expendables fail to excite him.
- And also check out the As You Watch podcast’s first episode with Nick from Cinematic Katzenjammer, Bubba from Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights, Joe from Two Dude Review, and Vern from The Vern’s Videovangaurd.
