For anyone out there looking for film reviews, there certainly isn’t a shortage of places to find them. The internet hosts a smattering of blogs and other publications filled with as many reviews as you can get your eyes on. But one source of reviews I feel is often looked over by many bloggers are video reviews. FTS once dabbled in a video review, and normally this would be the point where I would link you to that review but it was so uneventful, so dreadfully boring, that I will not bother you with any of that nonsense. Yes, maybe one day we will return to our video camera, but in the meantime, I like to appreciate all the awesome people out there producing fun video content. Take a look at some of my favorite video reviewers and hopefully you will find one that gels with your tastes. Don’t forget: If you like what you see, do them a solid and subscribe to their channels![List by Lindsay]
Movies In The Mancave
One of my favorite new channels to watch, Movies in the Mancave is a review show hosted by two dudes just hanging out, talking film. Every week, hosts Jared and Cody sit down in the mancave and review films, break down movie lists and talk about tons of other topics. The guys offer up honest, down-to-each takes on film and seem to have a lot of fun doing it. [Youtube: mancavemoviereview ] [ Website: moviesinthemancave.areavoices.com]
Cinemassacre.com
James Rolfe and Mike Matei share the channel for cinemassacre and together they post reviews and other works they produce. Their film reviews generally center around old school horror or cult films but their site holds a massive amount of other material. Cinemassacre.com provides some insight on films not often looked at. [ Youtube: JamesNintendoNerd ] [ Website: cinemassacre.com ]
Beyond The Trailer / Indy Mogul
Maybe some of those most popular channels mentioned on the list, it’s easy to see why people love both Beyond the Trailer and Indy Mogul. Host Grace Randolph is both honest and accessible in her reviews as she tackles most major releases to hit the theaters. Blind Film Critic
This guy is seriously great. First off, yes, this is a man that is actually blind. I’m sure most people read Blind Film Critic as an oxymoron, but of course blind people enjoy film too, and this guy is able to offer up one of the most unique and fascinating viewpoints on film. His video reviews are short, funny and make you a lot more aware of the different ways films can be experienced. [ Youtube: BlindFilmCritic] [ Website: blindfilmcritic.com]
Pretty Much It
While the site is essentially just easily consumable movie news and trailers, Pretty Much It’s youtube channel hosts tons of reviews from guys that love film. Sometimes together, usually separate, they deliver a standard video review, concentrating on just their thoughts and no flashy trailer intros. Pretty Much It offers diverse opinions and educated thought, which I really appreciate. You’ll find their reviews are well planned and clearly focused. Spill.com
Spill is one of my absolute favorite review sites around. Those guys are funny, knowledgeable and one of the main reasons I wanted to start a film blog in the first place. In addition to the animated reviews they do, their site features tons of amazing podcasts, including their own and others uploaded by community members. Their animated reviews are just the right length, always hilarious and generally close in judgement to my own. if you like these reviews I urge you strongly to listen to their podcasts!
