A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011) Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson. Starring: Kal Penn, John Cho and Neil Patrick Harris. IMDB says: Six years after their Guantanamo Bay adventure, stoner buds Harold Lee and Kumar Patel cause a holiday fracas by inadvertently burning down Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree.

Rob: This film was pretty fun. I didn’t have my expectations set too high, but the movie definitely surpassed them. For one thing, I don’t really like 3D movies. I’m one of those people that feels like they get headaches and fatigued eyes from watching them, but this film was not that difficult to watch. Most of the screen was in focus the majority of the time and I feel like this helps compared to when I saw the latest Final Destination. I also would rather watch a comedy in 3D than a action movie. The 3D scenes are usually used to make a joke or be ridiculous and I respond well to that.

Another thing that I was worried about was how bad I had heard Harold & Kumar Escape From Gauntanamo Bay was. I never saw that movie, but I feel like the third film was on a similar level to the first one. I laughed through most of the film. There was probably only one scene that I thought was a little weird, but I couldn’t even recall what it was when I left the theater, so I figured it wasn’t a big deal.

The guest stars were pretty great this time around, too. Of course, Neil Patrick Harris was there. I really appreciate that he acts like such a dick in this movie, like he’s just putting on an act in real life. I dig that kind of sense of humor. Danny Trejo was funny as the angry father-in-law. Thomas Lennon popped up in this movie as well. I feel like sometimes he just shows up for a scene or two, but he was a more major player this time. I think out of all of them, Wafflebot really stole the show though.
