Cheating a bit with a TV-ish series trailer but this seemed like a good thing to bring to the forefront. This new made-for-Netflix series is from gore guy Eli Roth but the trailer here suggests something much different. It sort of looks like a cross between some Vampire Diaries type show and American Horror Story. Stylistically, that’s a bit generic but it feels like there is enough mystery encapsulated within the characters to warrant a viewing. Hopefully this will be engaging and a solid addition to the new Netflix lineup that I’m truly looking forward to.

What sparked my initial interest in the project is that it’s based off a book written by David Wong, a talented writer I was turned onto thanks to his work on Cracked. As for the trailer, there is a lot going on and not a lot to help you through it. That’s okay though, because I reckon this is the kind of movie where you’ll still be figuring it out as you go. It gets high points for originality and a bonus score for Paul Giamatti.

The trailer for this has been out for a while now but they just released a new one so I decided to talk about it now. I’m pretty sure anyone shunning this film has never seen the trailer or read anything about it’s production. It looks like a disgusting masterpiece and it is the biggest, baddest trailer to come out in quite some time.

I love the concept behind this. It’s a little bit over the top, what with the whole ‘going above and beyond the call of duty’ concept but it’s not too outlandish. There is a lot of great tension in the trailer that reminds me of solid 90’s thrillers. Halle Berry looks good here and it’s also awesome to see Abigail Breslin working on something a little outside her element.

I was a huge fan of The Last Exorcism but I’ll be the first to admit how silly the title “Part 2” sounds here. The first film does leave enough room for a sequel but is it necessary? Probably not. The sequel jumps away from the found footage camerawork from it’s predecessor and gives the whole experience a very different vibe. There’s nothing egregious about what the trailer highlights but there isn’t anything that stands out either. I will probably check this out because I was a fan of the first film but based on this trailer alone, I don’t expect anything as thrilling as part one.
