Horror fans everywhere are brimming with anticipation over this new Evil Dead flick but even though it hasn’t hit most theaters yet, the production team is already developing a sequel. [‘Evil Dead 2′ Script Already in the Works; Remake Trilogy Planned *Updated*]
Where my John Carpenter fans at? Or should I say “Where my John Carpenter remake fans at?” It looks like Escape From New York is the next film to get the remake treatment and possibly turn into a trilogy. [‘Escape From New York’ Remake to Become a Trilogy]
Sinister gave me a memorable theater experience and ended up being one of my favorite horror films from 2012. Now a sequel is in the works from the duo behind the original: Ain’t It Cool/Spill writer C. Robert Cargill and director Scott Derrickson. [‘Sinister 2′ Moving Forward From Original Creators]
Directed by Matt Orlando. Starring: Mischa Barton, Devon Sawa, Michael Clarke Duncan.
Take a look that cast! Some I wish was dead, someone I thought was dead and someone that is actually dead (RIP.) Anyways, I like the plotline ala I Know What You Did Last Summer, that I’m down with. Unfortunately, there is a fuckload of bad acting going on, a major lack of genuine scares and what appears to be a major spoiler. Sorry, Devin Sawa, let me know when you start directing Final Destination films or something.
Directed by Aleksander Nordaas. Starring: Silje Reinåmo, Erlend Nervold, Jon Sigve Skard.
I’m not exactly convinced here. There’s a lot to take in, some of which would probably be more relatable had I any knowledge of Norwegian folklore. That fact aside, it seems like a well crafted indie. Hopefully the film doesn’t sacrifice too much in the way of content for atmosphere.
Directed by Måns Mårlind, Björn Stein. Starring: Julianne Moore, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jeffrey DeMunn.
Ah yes, I remember this. In fact, I had to check and make sure I hadn’t already reviewed this trailer before. It’s certainly not awful but seems like it was meant for another time and place all together. The cast is intriguing but the terrible critical reviews and long troubled releasing (it was made in 2010 under the initial title Shelter) indicate that I should steer clear.
Directed by Xan Cassavetes. Starring: Joséphine de La Baume, Roxane Mesquida, Milo Ventimiglia.
First of all, DUH-DOY she’s a vampire. You can’t fool me with that ‘skin condition’ bull. I’m pretty sure anyone that avoids the sunlight wants to suck my blood, including my roommate who claims to just ‘really like video games.’ I don’t buy it and I keep my garlic close by. As for the trailer, I don’t know/care. Sexy, bloody people doing sexy bloody things. Overall, there just isn’t much that’s grabbing my attention other than the stupid looking font (although it might just be the color of the font, is that weird?) Vamp films just ain’t my thang.
Directed by Makinov. Starring: Daniel Giménez Cacho, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vinessa Shaw.
I was surprised to see that the 1976 Spanish horror film Who Can Kill a Child? was getting a remake. I was more surprised to find that the remake looked shockingly similar to it’s predecessor. It looks alright but isn’t offering anything new. I will probably watch it for comparison’s sake but would recommend people check out the original if the concept of killer kids on an island interests them.

The Film Reel is also talking about children but in a much more sinister way. TFR kicks off a week of terrifying toddlers. [Killer Kids Week!]
To The Escape Hatch gives a nice, detailed review of the 2003 film Identity. You remember, the one with John Cusak, the twist ending and that guy with the shifty eyes. [Escape by Checking the Laundry Room: Identity]
