Welcome to FTS’ brand new feature Word Around the Campfire where all of the FTS’ contributors take turns answering the question or topic of the month. This month we talk about what we would do with a little extra time on our hands.

If you had an extra hour every day, what would you do with it?

I’d write. I miss writing so much. I don’t know why I don’t do it more. I used to write poems, short stories, hell I was more active post-wise on FTS. I don’t know what happened.

I want to believe that if I had one extra hour per day I would use it for the things I don’t do enough, like watching a movie I haven’t seen before, reading a novel or going for a run/hike. But the truth is that I’d probably spend more time on what I do a lot already – sleep more, read for university or hang out with my dorm mates.

I would watch at least one episode of the very huge backlog of television shows I’ve either fallen behind on over the past few years (hello House of Cards) or never started due to lack of time (hello X-Files). Or maybe something more beneficial to my health, like yoga. I’ve wanted to practice yoga for years and time always seems to be the sticking point. Let’s be honest though, television would probably take the win there.

If I’m being honest, it would probably be something different every day. I think using it to sleep would actually be the most beneficial thing for me but I would probably be a lot more tempted to use it for productivity. I’d also love to just take more time in the mornings before work, making breakfast and slowly getting up instead of rushing out the door like my pants are on fire.

What would YOU do with an extra house a day?
