Nate’s Two Cents?
Skyfall is probably one of my favorite Bond flick of all time, so when I heard Mendes was back for directing Spectre I was extremely excited. Spectre was an entertaining film for sure and it was great to meet old friends again, but something just wasn’t there for me in the end. It felt like they were forcing things a bit in able to include easter egg after easter egg from the classic films that generations have grown up with. It just got to be a bit much after a but. Overall I did enjoy the movie and I hope the next installment is a little more solid and flushed out in plot. Give it a watch this week if you’re a Bond fan for sure!!

Crimson Peak

Who’s in it?
Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston

What’s it about?
“When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak. From the imagination of director Guillermo del Toro comes a supernatural mystery starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam.” – Universal

Nate’s Two Cents?
I was really looking forward to this movie, despite the fact that I wasn’t sure if I was actually gonna like it or not. After the movie I even had to wait until the next day to let the movie soak in, but soon realized just how much I appreciated it and everything that went into it. If you’re a fan of gothic romance then this film is right up your alley. This movie was unfortunately marketed completely wrong and hence most people were not fans of the flick because they expected a horror film. Anyway I highly recommend checking it out and to read my full review I did last year just head here.

Felt

Who’s in it?
Alanna Reynolds, Kentucky Audley, Roxanne Lauren Knouse

What’s it about?
“Amy is hanging on by a thread. Struggling to cope with past sexual trauma and the daily aggressions of a male-dominated society, she creates grotesquely costumed alter egos that re-appropriate the male form. While giving her the sense of power she craves, acting as these characters pushes her further into a world of her own making. When she begins a new relationship with a seemingly good guy, she opens herself up to him – but that vulnerability comes at a dangerous cost, and her alter egos threaten to lash out in explosive violence. Based on the real experiences and art of co-writer/star Amy Everson, Felt doesn’t just point a finger at rape culture; it takes a full on swing at it, creating a feminist psychological thriller that audiences will be hard-pressed to shake off.” – Amplify

Nate’s Two Cents?
Nothing will prepare you for what you are about to see, that being you decide to watch this flick. This movie is extremely strange and at first I wasn’t sure what to think about it. I don’t really wanna get into it because it’s best if you just watch it knowing nothing. Just keep watching, no matter how strange it may seem. At the least it will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Freaks of Nature

“In Freaks of Nature, we welcome you to Dillford, where three days ago, everything was peaceful and business as usual: the vampires were at the top of the social order, the zombies were at the bottom, and the humans were getting along in the middle. Now it’s humans vs. vampires vs. zombies in all-out, blood-sucking, brain-eating, vamp-staking mortal combat – and all of them are on the run from the aliens. 99 Homes

“Set amidst the backdrop of the 2008 housing market catastrophe, Dennis Nash, a hard-working and honest man, can’t save his family home despite his best efforts. Thrown to the streets with alarming precision by real estate shark Mike Carver, Dennis, out of work and luck, is given a unique opportunity – to join Carver’s crew and put others through the harrowing ordeal done to him in order to earn back what’s his. Delicately training his eye on the rigorous details, the reliably astute Ramin Bahrani imbues his characters with icy complexity to achieve his compassionate portrait of a man whose integrity has become ensnared within an all-too-relevant American crisis. With precision and care, Bahrani’s provocative character study applies all the cinematic tools at his disposal to explore the ethical dilemma at the heart of man’s struggle to reach higher – by whatever means necessary.” – Rotten Tomatoes
