Hello there FTS readers and welcome back to the column where we take a look at the new releases coming out this week via home video. Also, each week I will take a look at what’s available on Netflix and give my personal recommendation. So without further ado…let’s get this ball rolling.
The Best on DVD & BluRay
Kill Me Three Times
Rotten Tomatoes: 9% (yikes) | IMDB: 5.9
Who’s in it?
Simon Pegg, Alice Braga, Teresa Palmer, Luke Hemsworth
What’s this thing about?
A hit-man is hired to do a job and quickly finds himself in a topsy-turvy, mangled mess. The film is one twist and turn after another, and by the end, let’s just say the body count begins to stack up. That’s all I’ll say without spoiling the movie, but expect many plot twists.
Nate’s Two Cents?
I was very surprised when I went onto Rotten Tomatoes and saw this film got such a terribly low score. I actually found it to be a fun watch and all the twists keep you guessing the entire time. I probably wouldn’t purchase the film but I would for sure at least rent it from Redbox and give it a watch.

Maggie
Rotten Tomatoes: 52% | IMDB: 5.6
Who’s in it?
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin
What’s this thing about?
The film takes place in a world where a deadly virus, that eventually zombifies the infected, is killing off the population. A father does everything he can for his daughter to try and postpone the inevitable.
Nate’s Two Cents?
I found Maggie to be a refreshing take on the zombie genre of horror. The filmmakers instead take a more dramatic approach to a zombie outbreak as opposed to the usual super violent and action packed. I really enjoyed seeing Arnold in this film as well because it’s a role you don’t usually get to see him perform. Instead of kicking ass and taking names we get to see him being a loving father and trying to keep his daughter alive. Check it out if you get the chance!

Woman in Gold
Rotten Tomatoes: 53% | IMDB: 7.4
Who’s in it?
Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Brühl, Katie Holmes
What’s this thing about?
Maria Altmann, a Jewish refugee, enlists the help of a young lawyer to take on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes belongs to her family. The film is based on the true story of Altmann and her journey to reclaim family paintings 60 years after fleeing Vienna during World War II.
Nate’s Two Cents?
I finally got to see this the other day and really enjoyed it. The performances from Mirren and Reynolds were honest and emotional at times. It’s nice to see Reynolds go outside his typecast role of being “the funny guy”. The process Altmann had to go through strikes a chord with the viewer and might produce a few tears. Give it a watch when you get the time.

Nate’s Two Cents?
I absolutely love this film and it leaves each viewer with a sense of overall bewilderment and creepiness. The film is directed by Ti West and is inspired by the events that took place during the Peoples Temple massacre of November 1978. I’d say if you aren’t already aware of what happened then watch the movie first. The actual massacre was far more severe that the one depicted in the film, but no less disturbing to watch take place. I share this movie with people all the time and they are always left super creeped out and disturbed. If you like what you see from Ti West here be sure to check out The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers which were his two previous films.
