There are a lot of “bits” out there when it comes to movies. Our job is to bring you Five Great ones! This time we’re looking at Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which recently came out on DVD. The film follows astronaut Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) as he and his team try to find a new planet for humanity to call home.

5. Screen Junkies – Movie Science: Interstellar

It’s probably fair to say that Interstellar was a bit divisive. The film got a ton of praise but a lot of folks still complained about the science and the unique sound choices. One thing we can all agree on is that the film is dense. As Hal from Screen Junkies says, “There’s a lot of science up in there!” In this installment of Movie Science, Hal and Dr. Clifford V. Johnson cover wormholes, gravitational time dilation, and Subway. Yum!

4. Mr. Sunday Movies – Interstellar Explained

As we just covered, Interstellar is chock a block full of complicated scientific ideas. In this video, the always funny Mr. Sunday Movies does his best to explain the film, which is no small feat. There are not only a ton of scientific concepts to wrap one’s head around, but a lot of the film is sort of open to interpretation as well. It doesn’t help when Mr. SM starts introducing theories like the one that says our universe is some sort of hologram. You’re making it worse, mate!

3. Wired – “Absolute Zero” a Prequel Comic (via The AV Club)

Are you wondering how exactly Matt Damon’s Dr. Mann became so flippin’ off his rocker nutso? Well wonder no more. Christopher Nolan actually wrote a prequel comic for Wired Magazine, and they got award winning artist Sean Gordon Murphy to draw the thing. You can read it in its entirety here. Now I just want a comic explaining how Topher Grace became a doctor.

2. Screen Junkies – Just the Murphs

One of my favorite scenes from Interstellar involves Cooper saying his daughter’s name, so it was funny to come across this Screen Junkies video devoted to the number of times he does just that. No surprise, he does it a lot. It makes me wonder how much the name “Murph” shows up in the script and how much McConaughey just ad libbed it. Reardless, I might just start calling everyone Murph.

1. @oskararnarson – Matthew McConaughey’s Reaction to Star Wars Teaser #2

This is the best Interstellar video I’ve seen. The video’s creator, @oskararnarson, managed to perfectly splice together Cooper’s emotional reactions to messages he received from his family whilst on the time dilation planet with the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser. The result makes McConaughey look like the biggest Star Wars fanboy who ever lived. By the way, I totally reserve the right to use this for the inevitable Five Great Bits for Star Wars. Check it out, Murph.
