In Theaters

Instead of Furious 7, watch: The 6 other Fast and Furious Films

Maybe you’re like me and you haven’t seen a majority of the Fast and Furious films. Well, now’s the perfect time to dust off those dvds (or BluRays) and reintroduce yourself to the gang. These films will be loaded with just as many fast cars, good-looking people, loud music, and ludicrous action sequences (see what I did there?) Then when you’re all caught up, you can head to the theatres when it’s less crowded and catch Fast 7.

WOMAN IN GOLD

Instead of The Woman in Gold, watch: Find Me Guilty

I enjoy a procedural drama as much as the next person, but Find Me Guilty infuses unexpected humor and an even more unexpected performance from Vin Diesel. I doubt Woman in Gold has either of those. In easily one of his best roles, Diesel forgoes the tough guy and beats people down with his words rather than his fists. Based on the true story of gangster Jack DiNorscio who defended himself in court, the film uses actual dialogue from the court proceedings in the film. Very cool.

A Most Violent Year (2014)
This film is worth recommending based off of Oscar Issac’s performance alone. Issac plays the owner of a waste management business who’s dealing with intimidation from rival businesses. He tries to maintain the peace all while dealing with investigation from the feds and his wife (Jessica Chastain) pressuring him to resort to more “connected” methods. If you missed it in theatres, now is your chance to see it. [See the trailer] / [Buy it on Amazon]

The Big Lebowski (1998)
The dude abides and you should imbibe in one of the greatest cult comedies ever made. Bowling, Nihlists, White Russians Oh my! Follow The Dude (Jeff Bridges) as he’s thrust into being a bagman for a kidnapping situation gone awry. This comedy of errors will have you laughing from beginning to end AND it will really tie the room together. Watch it for the 17th time, or watch it for the first time. Whatever you do, watch it!
