In an attempt to stick to our movie-related New Years resolutions, Jess and I plan to keep an weekly record of our progress towards our goal. See if we hit our goal this week and what movies we watched. You can also check out our initial resolutions post here.
My big goal this year is to watch three types of movies a week:
- 1 New Movie (anything that has come out in the last 3-4 months)
- 1 Movie From My Netflix Queue (it has to be from the list I cemented in stone at the beginning of 2014 to count)
- 1 Movie I’ve Been Meaning to Rewatch
Lets take a look at what was watched this past week.
New Movies:
- Kingsman: The Secret Service – Read my review! I liked it!
- Fifty Shades of Grey – I actually thoroughly enjoyed this for what it was. Not saying it’s great or anything, but it’s better than I ever thought it could be mostly due to the pretty direction/cinematography, injected humor, self-awareness of its own schlock, and Dakota Johnson.
Re-watched:
- Hot Fuzz – Absolutely fantastic every time I watch this. Endless possibilities for drinking game rules, which is what inspired the re-watch.
Off the Queue:
- Beginners – The filmmaking was much more unique than I expected, with some deeply emotional moments from Christopher Plummer, Ewan McGregor, and Mélanie Laurent.
New Movies:
- Fifty Shades of Grey – It wasn’t too bad! Check out my review.
- Kingsman: The Secret Service – I had been anticipating this for a while now and I wasn’t disappointed. It has a great cast, stylish direction and overall I found it to be a whole lot of fun!
Re-watched:
- Edge of Tomorrow – Highly rewatchable and still one of my favorite flicks from 2014. If this doesn’t make you fall in love Emily Blunt I don’t know what will. Here’s my original review.
Off the Queue:
- Scoop – I was trepidatious to watch this because I’ve had a mixed relationship with Woody Allen films but I actually enjoyed this one. It’s quirky and cute and a super easy watch.
