Nick-2July is here and that means we are halfway through 2014. If you remember, back in January on our New Years Resolutions episode, I made the ludicrous claim that I was going to watch the equivalent of a movie a day this year.

To make it harder, I put restrictions in place:

  • New Releases seen in theatres don’t count
  • 50 of the films MUST be Documentaries
  • 100 of the films MUST be Foreign Films
  • Rewatches don’t count

As of this post, I’ve seen 105 films. Yeah, I’m behind. Nearly 80 films behind. But now is not the time for naysayers or doubt. Now is the time to step up and invest just a bit more time and energy into this exercise of insanity. It took Rocky two films to beat Apollo. It took the Rebel Alliance three films (and presumably many years before that) to defeat the Empire. They split the last Harry Potter Book into two films. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (theatrical release) was 201 minutes. What does any of this mean? It means I’ve got time to complete this goal!

STATS TIME:

Of the 105 films I’ve seen:

I’ve watched 11,207 minutes of film.

That equals out to 186.78 hours OR 7.78 days.

The average length of the films clock in at 106.73 minutes.

I’ve seen 17 of the 100 Foreign Films and 14 of the 50 Documentaries.

The shortest film on this list is the 1946 documentary Let There Be Light
with a run time of 58 minutes.

The longest film on this list is the epic Lawrence of Arabia
with a run time of 216 minutes.

My favorite film from this list (so far) is the insanity that is: Wild at Heart
(even though Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms)

The worst film I’ve seen from this list (so far) is CBGB.
The movie is just awful. You almost feel bad for Alan Rickman.
