Here to take a look at the films coming out in wide and limited release this coming weekend. I’ll give you my thoughts to help you decide what’s worth checking out.
- A Madea Christmas – Not much to say about this one. If this is your thing have at it.
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – I am so not qualified enough to speak on the subject. Not only have I not yet seen the first Hobbit film but I’ve still not seen the LOTR films yet either. I really should catch up. I can offer you the opinion of Rob who loves those little hobbits and has seen all the extended editions of the LOTR series. He really enjoyed it and thought it was one of his favorite movies of the year. A review will be up Friday.
- American Hustle – I haven’t been able to wait for this film since the first trailer. I didn’t need any details –that fast cut preview was all I needed. The cast plus David O. Russell have seemed to craft an incredibly fun, twisted 70’s period drama that’s going to be a crowd pleaser from the reviews so far. Can’t wait to check this out in theaters.
See where it’s playing in select theaters here - Saving Mr. Banks – A full review will be up this Friday, but I definitely recommend this film. It’s very sentimental and Disney-fied but it tells a very interesting story that’s sweet, funny, and quite sad at times. Emma Thompson is perfect as Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers and her performance alone makes this a must see in my book.
