Before Peter Jackson directed epics, he staked out his claim in the horror world with low budget “slapstick” features like Dead Alive (or Braindead outside the US). In this flick, Lionel is the ultimate mama’s boy, and he can’t help but stay under her thumb, even after she turns into a zombie. While trying to control the dark forces surrounding him and develop a relationship with his soul mate Paquita, things get hairy (and icky, and gooey, and just plain nasty). This master class in special effects is amazing in groups, and adding a few drinks to the mix will only make this movie more fun.
