Maybe you’re looking to save a few bucks or the current theater choices just aren’t cutting it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes it’s just as nice to sit at home and watch a good flick. Take a look at this week’s picks for some At-Home Alternatives to the weekly cinema options.

OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL
Instead of Oz the Great and Powerful: The Wiz
The ‘Wizard of Oz’ is a great artistic property because it can be expanded upon or reimagined in a variety of ways. The latest installment takes place in Oz BD (Before Dorothy) and follows a magician who finds his way into this magical land just so happens to be named after him (feel free to red our review here). If you can’t make it to the theaters for this one, check out The Wiz, an urban retelling of The Wizard of Oz. As much of a classic the original ‘Oz’ may be, I would take The Wiz any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Two things really stick out to me in The Wiz and that’s the awesome songs (‘You Can’t Win’ to ‘Ease On Down the Road’ and the show-stopping ‘Home’) and the Impeccable cast, icons such as Diana Ross, Nipsey Russell, Richard Pryor, and Michael Jackson.

Life Of Pi
Life of Pi (2012)
I’m not gonna lie, when I first heard the fellow FTS’ers discuss this film and saw the stills; I thought this was a live-action take on Jungle Book. But it appears that it’s a heartfelt movie above finding yourself and having faith, throw on top of all that that most people in Hollywood called this film “unmakeable” (and cut to Ang Lee polishing his Best Director Oscar), and you have a must see movie. I didn’t get a chance to catch this in theaters, but I definitely will be picking this up on Tuesday.

Archer Season 3 (2012)

If you guys know me, then you know I’m always on the go. So I barely have time for network TV when it actually airs. Hell, I barely have time to write articles (hai Lindsay ;-)). So you can imagine my joy when Netflix sends me a email that my favorite-show-that-I-can-never-catch has it latest season for instant watch. So whether you’re new to Archer, haven’t seen season 3 yet, or just love the shit out this show, watch it now.

Archer Netflix Synopsis: Sophisticated spy Archer may have the coolest gadgets, but he still has issues when it comes to dealing with his boss — who also happens to be his mother — in this wicked animated spoof of spy flicks and the sex-crazed agents who populate them.

What do you plan on watching this week, at home or otherwise? What do you think of my choices?
