Maybe you’re looking to save a few bucks or the current theater choices just aren’t cutting it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes it’s just as nice to sit at home and watch a good flick. Take a look at this week’s picks for some At-Home Alternatives to the weekly cinema options.
Instead of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: The Lord on The Rings: Fellowship of The Ring
Really, you should watch the entire Lord of The Rings trilogy, but if you don’t have time for that then just watching the first movie will give you a taste of the Hobbit world. The Fellowship of The Ring shows Bilbo Baggins long after the unexpected journey he takes in The Hobbit, when he begins writing his memoirs. The Fellowship of the Ring drops some hints of what happened during Bilbo’s adventure with The Ring in the new prequel trilogy, but focuses more on how Frodo’s (Bilbo’s nephew) adventure is going to unfold.
Total Recall (2012)
Total Recall is a remake of a film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a seemly normal guy who slowly realizes that things are not as they seem in his life. The remake stars Colin Farrell in Schwarzenegger’s role. The original movie featured some great practical special effects that lead to some very memorable scenes. The new film uses more update to date effects to give the film a more modern feel. While this may or may not be an improvement, I believe Farrell will give a better performance than Schwarzenegger. Both movies seem to have their individual draw, so check out either version.
From Dusk Till Dawn (2011)
From Dusk Till Dawn is a horror-action film with some comedic elements. It stars George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino as brothers wanted by the FBI and Texas state police after job they pull robbing a bank turns deadly. They are headed to a safehouse in Mexico, but things take a surprising twist when they reach Mexico. The film was written by Tarantino and directed by friend Robert Rodriguez.
From Dusk Till Dawn Netflix Synopsis: Robbers-on-the-lam Seth and Richard Gecko take an ex-preacher and his kids hostage. On a race to the Mexican border, they rendezvous at a cantina, not knowing the owners and clientele are bloodthirsty vampires in this ode to 1960s horror movies.
