Predators 2010: Dir. Nimrod Antal. Starring: Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, and Alice Braga
The Robert Rodriguez produced Predators is being called the unofficial sequel to the original classic 1987 B-movie Predator (starring Schwarzenegger.) The movie is a fun mix of action, sci-fi and horror. Here are my 5 Favorite Things About Predators ( in no particular order.)
1. The Group Dynamic
One thing that really helped this movie was a cast of interesting characters. Some have a military background, while other are dangerous cons. Each character is drawn out just enough so that you can find the elements that make them all human and therefore you are concerned for their well being.
2. Creature Design
New types Pedators are introduced and also new Predator “dogs” (pictured above.)
3. Adrien Brody’s Badass-ness
I have to say, I fell in love watching Predators. So maybe my Brody attraction persuaded my love for the character Royce. But upon watching, I think you’ll have to admit that he really is a badass. Brody does an excellent job breaking from traditional standards, beefing up 25 pounds of muscle and becoming a new kind of hero.
4. Make-Up and Effects Design
I LOVE LOVE LOVE when movies use make-up effects instead of CGI. It’s good old fashioned man in a monster suit. The suit design looks great and is constructed by the great Howard Berger and his team.
