FTS SCAVHUNT 2010
Welcome to FRENCH TOAST SUNDAY’s 1st annual SCAVENGER HUNT 2010. If you’re unfamiliar with what French Toast Sunday is, get familiar! Check out Frenchtoastsunday.blogspot.com & Frenchtoastsunday.tumblr.com to see what we’re all about. Have you ever participated in a Scavenger Hunt before? If no, our hunt is a game in which teams work together to gather a random assortment of items, as well as perform a multitude of tasks for points. The team that earns the most points in the end wins! The following contains the rules and necessary info to compete in the hunt. Please read over it carefully, as it elaborates fully on what to except from the challenge.
HOW TO SIGN UP!
There’s plenty of ways for you and you team to sign up for the hunt. The easiest ways to let me know is to contact me via comment on this page, email @ stuffaboutmovies@gmail.com, or if you know me in person just tell me. Before the hunt I’ll put an updated team bracket up.
THE RULES
- Try not to get arrested. While some things on the list may seem law bending, we do not intend in any way, shape, or form for you to actually break the law. If you get in any trouble, we don’t know you.
- Be creative with this list. I cannot stress this enough. If you see something on the list that sounds absolutely ridiculous, check the point value. If it’s worth an exorbitant amount of points or very little points, it’s more than likely something we expect someone will not do or you need to be creative.
- No boundaries! Please feel free to move as far and wide as you please.
- Only 1 car per team is permitted. This ensures everyone works as a team and does not split up.
- A picture or video must accompany each action. There’s no bending this rule.
- In addition, you cannot take a picture for an item. You must physically collect an item and keep it until check in. No points if you lose it.
- The team with the most points wins. Points are listed to the right of each item/action. Bonuses indicated at the right are added on top of the regular points. There are ongoing bonuses that can be added throughout the hunt.
- Remember: Don’t be stupid, don’t piss off the law, and have fun!!!
TEAM NAMES/JUDGES
Every team participating is required to come up with an awesome team name. The name will define your team as a whole and make it easier for us to identify you. In addition, each team must elect one team judge (kind of like a team captain.) At the end of hunt, all the team judges will meet in order to add up points together and make decisions on specific items/actions. Some actions on the list are awarded points if that team gets the most or does the best, which will be decided on by the judges. Judges will also decide whether or not certain things will be accepted in order to receive the points.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- pen or something to write with
- camera; at least one per team
- A plastic bag and/or Ziploc bag (Not required but may be useful)
THE TIMELINE
11AM– initial meeting / debriefing /breakfast?
12PM– game officially begins, so be prepared
11PM – game over, must be back @ checkpoint1130PM – reviewing the findings and relaxing time
Details on checkpoint addresses and meeting points will be provided closer to the hunt.
Regarding the 11pm check in time, there is what we call a 15 minute “grace period”. This means that for whatever circumstances (perhaps you have very poor time management skills) you are allowed ONLY AND UP TO 15 minutes after 11pm to be at the checkpoint. However, those of you thinking this is a free 15 mins of playing time may want to reconsider. Showing up before or at 11pm exactly will earn your team 100 extra points automatically.
THE LIST
The list of over 450 items/actions to find and complete. We obviously do not expect anyone to be able to get through it all but we like to have tons of stuff for you to choose from. Everything is broken down into categories, including some of our favorite movie genres. (Fun fact: if you complete all the tasks within a genre, you net a bonus 100 points!)
A downloadable copy of the full list and rules will be available closer to the hunt.
