Review by Nathan

It’s been eight years since we last saw a film adaptation of the popular video game series, Hitman. I honestly can’t even remember the first film, so I can’t really compare the two films. I went into the screening with no expectations and hadn’t even seen a full trailer because I originally had no intention of seeing the movie.

By the time the movie ended, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. The movie was no masterpiece, but it was entertaining and I thought the story was quite an action-packed adventure. I enjoyed Rupert Friend much more as Agent 47 than I did Timothy Olyphant the last time around. He played a much colder version of the character, which I feel added more depth and believability to his character and the story.

I also enjoyed how the film was shot. At times it felt like you were watching cut-scenes straight out of a video game. There were parts of the story that were a little vague and didn’t quite make sense, but overall it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve seen lately. I wouldn’t necessarily watch the film again, but if you’re looking for an action movie to see in theaters, I’d recommend at least catching a matinee screening this weekend if you have the chance.
