When a movie gets an “R” rating, you can guarantee there are going to be some “Fucks” in there. This list is my favorite ten films that use the word “Fuck” more than 200 times. I’ve ranked the list from films with the lowest amount to films with the highest and I’ll have a short blurb about the film and a favorite scene of mine (I’ll try to be as spoiler free as possible). I’ll include how many “Fucks”, how long the film is, and the “Fucks” Per Minute or FPM! WARNING: Clearly this post has some language in it so if you’re not a fan of swear words, go Fuck yourself, er, I mean, I apologize. Scarface played a pivotal part of my high school years. From 9th grade onward, I’d find myself just locked in the computer room of my house just watching Scarface after school on a loop. Of the many many times I’ve watched it, my favorite scene would be his final confrontation with Frank. Just the way he plays it cool after nearly being murdered and then is able to temper that rage was always real cool to me.
Suicide Kings is one of those movies that, whenever it’s on, you watch it. It’s an indie-type noir film with recognizable faces including, the center of the film’s attention, Christopher Walken. My favorite scene would be a side plot with Dennis Leary’s character explaining his sting ray boots to another character. Cracks me up everytime.
A Scorsese favorite of mine, the movie is fantastic. It’s got the perfect amount of suspense, comedy, action, and drama. Not to mention it’s loaded with one-liners. Rather than do a favorite scene, for this film, I’ll share my favorite line: “Fucking fireman getting pussy for the first time in the history of fire or pussy”
I’m pretty sure everyone discovers The Boondock Saints in college. I know did and I couldn’t be prouder. I met this guy, who became a good friend, who introduced me to the film. He was a fan of everything and anything Boston (despite living in PA all his life) and he said if I loved any type of “gangster” film, I would love this movie. He was right. Solid movie and Willem Dafoe is in this? Where can you go wrong. Pretty much any scene with Willem Dafoe in it is my favorite but the ending scene when he dissects the last crime scene is probably my favorite favorite.
I’m a fan of Kevin Smith. He’s an acquired taste, but, to me, he’s funny and I’ll watch anything he puts out. When Jay and Silent Bob came out I thought FINALLY! Two of his most famous characters getting the spotlight. Much like The Departed, there are many great scenes, but it’s the one-liners that stand out the most. One of the quintessential scenes is in the very beginning of the film when we see Jay and Bob grow up from babies into adults through the power of the word “Fuck”.
The Big Lebowski is one of the few Coen Brothers films I like. Most of their stuff I find boring or uninteresting, but Lebowski keeps me laughing from beginning to end. My favorite scene is when Walter pulls out his pistol when smokey steps over the line and shouts, “Am I the only one who gives a shit about the rules?!??”. Great movie.
We all know what Pulp Fiction is and how great it is so I’ll spare you me singing it’s praises. My favorite scene would be Vincent Vega’s and Mia Wallace’s “date” out to Jack Rabbit Slims and the adventures that ensue.
The first Quentin Tarantino film I saw and again, we all know how great it is so I’ll spare you the praises. My favorite scene would have to be the breakfast conversation about Madonna songs and the idea of leaving a tip for the waitress.
Goodfellas is a classic. It’s Scorsese at his best and Goodfellas is another film where, no matter when it comes on or what part of the movie comes on, I’m watching it until the end. The film is scene after memorable scene but my favorite is when Henry takes Karen on their first date to the restaurant and in one shot goes from outside to the front of the club. Not only is it a cool scene, but the music is perfect, and technically, it’s down right impressive.
Casino catches a lot of flack for being too much like Goodfellas because the casts are set in similar roles and the overall feel is the same. Both movies were based off of books written by the same guy and both films were directed by Scorsese, so of course there are going to be similarities. But Casino is more violent than Goodfellas and Pesci really opens up in his film and just lets the vulgarity fly. My favorite scene is when Pesci stands up to a guy at the bar and ends up stabbing him with a pen.
There were lots of movies I could have included but didn’t like Scarface, shoot-em-up, and any number of westerns and war films. These are the ones I liked best but maybe I missed something, what do you think?
